Reusable solutions in communal catering

Statistically, every German generates 225.8 kilograms of packaging waste per year. Several laws have been introduced to tackle the rising waste problem. These include, above all, the mandatory reusable packaging for to-go meals, which has been in force since 2023: larger restaurants, bistros and canteens must offer reusable packaging as an alternative for take-away meals.

In company restaurants, closed-loop systems in particular have established themselves as a solution. These are - compared to deposit systems - much more user-friendly for guests. Kamasys supports the systems of Relevo, Rieber and VYTAL: The lunch app is able to link to the app of the respective system provider. This makes it possible to integrate the circulatory systems effortlessly and in a user-friendly way into existing processes.

In practice, this looks like this:

Guests order their dishes as usual via the Lunch app and can pick them up at the serving counter or the food vending machine. The QR code of the reusable dishes is scanned and linked to the guest's user account - the assignment between user and dishes has been made.

Returning Relevo and VYTAL reusable packaging is possible free of charge within 14 days: At the return station in the company restaurant or at the return vending machine, the QR code is scanned again and the transaction is completed with the respective system provider.

After cleaning, the reusable tableware is available to the cycle again.

The situation is similar with the eatTAINABLE reusable system from Rieber. Here, however, the deadlines for returning the stainless steel containers can be agreed individually.
