The shortage of personnel in the catering industry is high and has become even more acute in the past two years. Service robots are intended to counteract this development and continue to make it possible to offer services in communal catering as well.

Bella- and HolaBot are a great relief for the service staff: The robots save carrying heavy dishes when serving and clearing away and reduce walking distances of the "human colleagues".

This relieves existing staff, particularly in the case of physically heavy tasks, and allows them to concentrate on increasing service quality.

The first restaurants are using concepts in which guests are served exclusively by BellaBot.

BellaBot

Let's get into the details. Or in other words: why service robots are a must in modern communal catering!

BellaBot's strength lies in serving guests: The ordered food is delivered directly to the table and only needs to be removed. With one trip of the robot, 40 kg of weight (e.g. food, drinks, cutlery) can easily be delivered to the tables. In addition, BellaBot has a walking mode: By following a route defined in advance, the robot can cater for guests as part of a "flying buffet".

HolaBot, on the other hand, with a load capacity of 60 kg, specializes primarily in clearing dishes: Guests can order the bot to the table via a call function, load used dishes, and Hola then automatically transports them for cleaning. This makes returning dishes much easier and faster for both guests and staff.

An exclusive agreement between kamasys and DigPanda, the Munich-based distributor responsible for the DACH region, has made it possible for the service robots from the Chinese manufacturer Pudu Robotics to now also find their way into the company restaurants in Germany.

Both bots allow faster service for guests and create an innovative and modern appearance. The interaction possibilities between guest and service robot support customer loyalty.

The BellaBot service robot is regarded as a multi-talent in communal catering: Intelligent trays - equipped with infrared sensors - allow fast serving. Thanks to modern linkage suspension in car quality, excellent runnability is achieved - unevenness is overcome and shocks are absorbed. BellaBot became known to a broad public through numerous media reports in Germany: Gastronomers participate from this awareness and also guests are offered the possibility to communicate with Bella via different possibilities.

The classic application of the service robot is serving food and beverages. With a load-bearing capacity of 40 kg, service personnel are noticeably relieved of physical tasks and can focus on core tasks. In addition to serving, Bella can also collect used dishes.

In addition to classic serving in the restaurant, the robot can also be used for banquets: Bella can travel a defined route if required. This allows guests to be catered as part of a "flying buffet."

HolaBot is known as "the clearer" when things get dirty: With a load capacity of up to 60 kg, it can easily pick up used dishes and take them to be washed. The service robot thus becomes an important supporter in the restaurant: neither staff nor guests have to transport the dirty dishes for return. This saves time and relieves the burden of physical tasks. In addition to the call receiver function (HolaBot can be called directly to the table for loading), the walking mode is remarkable: a defined route is independently traveled by the robot. Hola can thus permanently travel around the company restaurant and collect dishes before taking them to be washed.

But whoever clears away can also set the table: Thanks to its high load-bearing capacity, HolaBot can also be used as a table setting service: The robot transports the dishes to the tables in the company restaurant or in meeting rooms. This application also helps to reduce the workload of service personnel in terms of time and physical effort.

HolaBot's waterproof interior cabin is IPX5 certified and easy to clean. Hola, analogous to BellaBot, has sophisticated sensor technology and achieves excellent walkability thanks to the modern linkage suspension. Moreover, this service robot can additionally be controlled via gestures.

  • High load capacity (40 - 60 kg) allows faster serving of guests and clearing of dishes
  • Physical and time relief for service personnel: More capacity for other tasks
  • Safe system: brakes in case of obstacles within 0.2 seconds, automatically detects obstacles such as walls, doors or stairs
  • Individualization options to support the corporate design
  • Multiple bots possible: recognize each other - mutual blocking excluded
  • Weight: approx. 60 kg
  • Battery life: up to 24h, replaceable
  • Charging time: 4.5 h
  • Speed: 0.5 - 1.2 m/s
  • Load capacity per tray: BellaBot 10 kg, HolaBot 15 kg
  • Locating: with centimeter accuracy using SLAM technology,
    • optical SLAM system: via marking points on the ceiling (standard up to 8 m), multiple starting points possible
    • Laser SLAM system: location via internal lasers, no marking points necessary, suitable for any ceiling height, multiple starting points possible

"We humans tend to fall back on what we think we know from science fiction movies when interacting with something unknown, such as a robot, whether it's humanoid or not."
